Tip

Don't forget inbound traffic

Most providers only count outbound (egress) traffic. File uploads and backups going into your server usually don't count against your allowance.

인바운드 트래픽은 제외

대부분의 제공업체는 아웃바운드(발신) 트래픽만 집계합니다. 파일 업로드나 백업처럼 서버로 들어오는 트래픽은 대역폭 한도에 포함되지 않습니다.

It depends on the provider. Vultr and DigitalOcean charge overage at $0.01 per GB above the included amount — so a 100 GB overage costs $1. Hetzner either charges €1 per TB overage or throttles your speed to 1 Mbps once the limit is hit, depending on your plan. Some providers may suspend your server if you go significantly over.

Log in to your provider's control panel. Vultr shows bandwidth usage in the server detail page under "Bandwidth." DigitalOcean shows it in the Droplet's "Graphs" tab. Hetzner displays it in the server overview. You can also check from within your server using tools like vnstat (Linux) for ongoing monitoring.

Generally no. All three providers (Vultr, Hetzner, DigitalOcean) count only outbound (egress) traffic against your monthly allowance. Incoming traffic — file uploads, git pushes, database backups — is typically free and unlimited. This calculator estimates your outbound usage only.

The estimate uses the formula: visitors × pages per visit × average page size. It gives a reasonable ballpark but actual usage varies — some visitors bounce after one page, crawlers and bots add extra traffic, and media-heavy pages can be much larger. Use it as a starting estimate and monitor real usage once your site is live.
